If anyone has some snare trial money to throw around, this is worth looking into.

I know these are really rare in 14x7. Can't speak for the drum as I've yet to try mine. If it carriers any of the traits as it's same era sister above, it will be a cool drum. Yeah you need to get over the lugs :roll: , mine is gorgeous looking in a see thru white finish.

Interesting group, Kel. The walnut job (and it is real walnut burl) is quite attractive, although it looks like an S word with a different badge. I had tunesafes like that on a Ludwig snare many years ago: those were aluminum and I don't recall whether they worked well, but I am sure tuning required two hands.

The lugs you mention would take some getting used to. Is there a purpose to that design, I wonder?

I wish I could try the drums you are digging.

I like the thumbscrew locknuts for tune locking.

Nice concept to be able to tune freely, and then run the lock nuts down.

I have been using nylon insert locking nuts for tune locking on my Rogers kit, and on my Signatures for quite a while.

Hello friends...

I'm told Greg, that Premier has a small handful of wood craftsman. Like "real" ones. And they are putting out all these "One series" snares and kits. Some of the stuff is down right gorgeous.

I can't speak for the Genista drums as I have not played them yet. I have the snare and the rest of the kit is coming. But I do know there is a deep and loyal fan base for them on a par with the Signia line.

The Genista lugs, I dunno. But going by everything else I have seen Premier do from this era, they most likely work and work well for the kit. They seem to have done nothing haphazardly. Maybe they shut up some of that birch. Warm it up maybe.

Same throw offs on both series which I really like a lot. I do think they are using the same throw offs on the new stuff.

I have owned 3 different kits from the original birch Genista line over the years. I always loved the Genista lugs, but I am also someone who loves Art Deco art and furniture and they definitely have that vibe. They are mostly hollow and nowhere near as heavy as the Signia lugs.

The Genista shells have a typically great birch tone, great attack, great rock drums. They do not have as long a sustain as my S-Classix birch drums. That could be because the S-Classix have an even thinner shell than the Genistas?

BTW the price for that brand new "One Series" snare is pretty good! Not that I ever buy anything new! ;)

They don't look lovely to me, but I am aware that sometimes when you own something that works well, your aesthetic shifts. For instance, I now love Designer hardware, whereas I used to think it clunky and the consequence of overly eager designers with an inferiority complex. :lol: :lol: :lol:

You and I have discussed this several times I know Greg.....but I love Designer hardware.

David....my 14x7 Genista has the monster Signia hoop on it. Can't wait to try it.

Possibly. Could be the difference in lugs. I'm being serious. Much more realestate being taken up with those Genista lugs.

The Premier "One series" is really starting to not make a lot of sense to me. It's starting to piss me off actually.
I am not looking to buy. But if I were, It is as the name implies, they are only actually making one of each. In a set configuration. No available add-ons will be offered. And most are the one up configuration. And most are the traditional sizes, 10x7, 12 x 8. I've seen a few with 10x8 and 12x9's. How many of these can actually be a perfect setup for a certain person. Kinda like looking at the used SQ2 market.
I know some of the snares are selling, I see some Premier guys buying. Craftsmanship, Quality and aesthetics are being raved about. I take little notice in how they describe the awesome sound of they drum they just bought.
I've seen some gorgeous looking finishes but finding a finish you love in sizes you want seems to be nearly impossible. I have no idea what they are thinking.
