Nah. Much easier to let the crums fall inside. If you really want to get them out after that, you can shake the drum so they come out the vent hole.

Do we really need snare wires?

...or could we just use a variety of different crum(b)s inside the drum?

Nah, they'd be too sensitive to humidity. :? :lol:
