L. to R.;
1. FX(chinese) 18", 1,370g
2. Main ride 20" w/2 rivets,1,961 g
3. Crash 18", 1,280g;
4. Crash ride 20", 1,688g.
5. 13" HH, 607 & 624g

Alternate set up: 20" main ride w/o rivets; 18" crash ride w/2 rivets; 14" HH 1315 & 1692g

Like the piano keyboard, lowest to highest pitch moves left to right. I play piano also, so it helps my orientation that I play drums lefty. 8-)

At the moment, any more than 4 cymbals + HH tends to clutter things up for me.
Since I generally play small group...3 to 7 pcs... acoustic music, light cymbals are my preference.

Since I got the SQ2 kit I'd been playing 8, 10, 12 up and 14 down along with the 16 when I had room. Lately I've begun to feel in a rut and I know I've been depending on having a lot of drums to hit to do fills.

So, about a month ago I dropped all the toms but the 12 and 14 and went back to a 4-piece kit, ride, 2 crashes, hats and a splash. I've had a blast playing the past month. I really like that playing the 4-piece makes me think a lot more about each fill and how to make it interesting.

Yes! :D

And from there, if you add pieces, you can always continue to think if groups of four.

If you are talking about the ridiculously large 4 bass drum 10 tom kits I can see it. Most of the stuff can't even be reached.

As you can imagine, there was a lot on this kit I had a hard time reaching. Set it up for the photo op and promptly broke it down into 3 separate kits (w/the addition of another bass drum).

A 5 or 6 piece kit is plenty adequate for me these days.

The relevant question for Gunnar is not, 'how big is your kit'; it is, 'how big is your back yard?' ;)

Hell it was the 80's.
I don't see too much there Gunnar that I couldn't reach :D
I'm gonna dig up some old pics. This will be fun. Complete with the hair.
