Just about to renew the insurance on my drums/music equipment and wanted to get some help/ideas on individual values.
Sonor Lite MB
20x16, 14x12, 13x11, 12x10, 10x9, 8x8, LD547x

Obviously difficult to replace as vintage but just want to make sure am not undervaluing them...would be great if people could suggest a value for each item as I know the 8 and 10 are worth more than a 12 and 13 etc and the Lites seem to increased in value of late :)
I'm based in the UK

Cheers

Man, a tough call these days percusski. I pretty much check out all the link auctions just for the fun of it and it's a really weird market. A lot of people are claiming something is worth X amount of dollars and they just sit and sit and sit unsold.

A couple years back, it didn't matter what you had, there was a cap where the potential buyers shrank to near nothing. That was about 3 grand US. Right now stuff is sitting in the low 2's and not moving.

There is that "paiste guy" that is currently trying to move that Lite kit in the rare grey finish. Kit is drop dead gorgeous, mint and rare. I think it is 8,10,12,14ft,16ft, 20" kick. He's been trying to get low 3's for months and no one has budged.

You would actually have an advantage over him though as he would have a real tough time trying to sell seperately whereas scandi pieces can be orphed.
For insurance purposes...let me just throw some numbers at you if I was trying to sell or if I was shopping, strictly orphan prices.
Condition would be near mint at least:
20x16 600
8x8 550
10x9 350
12x10 250
13x11 250
14x12 300
14x7.25 600

What do you think.

Where insurance values are concerned, it is best to reflect the asking prices. To guess where the market really is won't help. If no one will sell lower than, say, 3500, value your kit there. Otherwise, you'll be trying to buy under the price of what guys are willing to let them go for. Make sense?

Perfect sense Greg.
And that is how I threw out some numbers. Those are for "insurance purpose" asking prices. Today, none of those pieces would move at those prices, but they are good asking prices.

There's quite a few discussions on kit insurance and companies in the UK on the MD forum. ( http://www.mikedolbear.com )

Thanks guys, yeah those are similar figures to what I have (assuming they are $ not £), The bass I may increase a little nearer your figure, the 12 and 13 I have about the same, the 10 I have valued at more as the last time a MB Lite went it did pretty well (I posted about it on the Sonormuseum site), it's all just a ball park figure in the end but if i'm going to pay a premium I don't want to be caught short should the worst happen.
Thanks again
