Was there any difference in shell material between heavy and thin shells?!?

Generally, what wood was used for the Signature line?

Shells are 12-ply beech, birch or maple (Signature SE) depending on model with 45 degree bearing edges
Decorative veneer inside the shell

Heavy = beech
Thin = birch
SE = maple

Or am I completely in the wrong direction?!? :lol:

Signature light were birch shells. That is correct. They were all 12 ply 7mm, and were the same spec as Sonorlite snare and bass, while the Sonorlite toms were 9 ply 6mm.

All 12ply - meaning the bass drum was also 12ply (7mm)?!?

A friend has a mixed set (12 light, 13 heavy, 16 light) and I'm not sure about the bass drum...

Thanx Greg - this sure is a valuable information...

I'm sure my friend will call me when he changes heads - then I'll be able to both help out and make an inspection... :geek:
