 Login? It's worth your life trying to get back off that page without killing the computer!

Sonor has some new Chinese beech and other low market pricing schemes, but not much that interests me.

I can't log in there. You gotta know somebody.

Rob,
If you're interested: you don't need a password. When you get the "user name/password" prompt, simply hit the "Cancel" button. You can access all the pertinent info in each subsection with a little patience. The pics of the finishes and shell sets aren't up yet.

Ascent Series The revival of the famous beech shell

The brand new SONOR Ascent Series marks the revival of the famous Beech Shell construction that has been a trademark of SONOR throughout the decades. Equipped with the latest features and technology, the Ascent Series is the perfect symbiosis between the Select Force and S Classix Series of drum sets. Any player, any style will appreciate the timeless quality and tremendous sound. Spectacular High Quality Sparkles, Solid Lacquered Finishes and stunning Wood Veneers highlight the high end look of the Ascent Series. A feature taken from SONOR’s premium line SQ2 is the black chrome hardware with certain finishes underscoring the timeless design of the Ascent Series. Get electrified with quality and sound in perfection!

Ascent Series Sounds
SONOR’s design team worked closely with some of the top Sonor artists to create the proper sound. The result of this collaboration are thin Beech Shells for all Bass Drums and thick Beech Shells for Snare Drums, Tom Toms and Floor Toms. The result is a full rich tone,
powerful and clear. No matter where you take it, the woodshed, the recording studio or the stage, you’ll lay down a perfect performance with the Ascent Series.

SONOR Ascent Beech Shell Design
The Beech shells deliver maximum strength, perfect curving and neutral tuning, due to the tension-free cross lamination of individual layers of wood (CLTF Cross Laminated Tension Free Process).

SONOR Ascent Shell Thicknesses
9 layers for tom toms, floor toms and snare drums = 8.75 mm 7 layers for bass drums = 6.35 mm

The vibration-free T.A.R. system (Total Acoustic Resonance) with APS provides maximum resonance and sustain.

Power Hoops – Clean Tuning and Crisp Attack!
2.3 mm SONOR Power Hoops on all tom toms and floor toms. 14" snare drums are equipped with die-cast hoops.

Bass Drum Bracket - It's Yours to Decide!
The standard Ascent Series bass drum ships without a bracket. Optional bracket is available.

Bass Drum Claws - Protect Your Rims!
Rubber padding beneath the bass drum claws protects the wooden rim against damage.

Bass Drum Spurs - Quick and Easy Set-Up!
Position clamps (Memory Locks) ‘remember’ your preferred bass drum spur height.

Bass Drum Legs - On Solid Footing, Everywhere You Go!
The bass drum feets can be converted from rubber to metal by turning the rubber foot. Fixing the position by a fastening screw.

Tuning Lugs with TuneSafe - Right in Tune, 100% of the Time!
All SONOR lugs are equipped with the TuneSafe tuning-safeguard feature, which prevents tension screws from loosening during hard rim shots or where batter heads have been loosely tuned.

400-Series Hardware Set - Reliable and Sturdy 'On the Road'!
The Hardware 400 Series provides solid double-braced stands for maximum stability and reliability. The SONOR 3-segment clamp offers maximum support for very little effort – whether for jazz or power drumming.

Is that "ACCENT" misspelled cleverly?

I think it's ASCENT, as in -
an act of ascending; upward movement; a rising movement: the ascent of a balloon.

I doubt they'll use it like Ludwig... ;)
