Hey everyone, look who sneaked in.

Nice to see you guys over here. How's things?

Anyone got any new Sonor kits lately? I'm thinking of getting an Ascent, but waiting for a trickle down of info. thoughts, impressions, etc. For now I'm playing a Yammy Beech Custom, which has a very nice sound, similar to the Phonics, but because of the thinner shells, not quite there.

So what's the latest?

Hello Hale,

Hope we didn't leave you hanging out for too long.

I have been getting 200-300 spam 'new members' a week since around the beginning of the year, and don't usually get to look at them until the weekend. Before that, the door was wide open, and not a problem until the spam started.

I recognized your name amongst the hundreds waiting today, and activated it.

Good to see you.

Thanks Cliff, no sweat. I'm happy to see faces like Kelly, Gregory, Goki, and yourself. Sorry if I missed anyone on the shoutouts.

Gotta go checkout the pics section now. ;)

Hey, look who snuck in, indeed. Nice to see you, Hale!

New Sonor? Latest and most cherished is a jazz size set of Designers which I'm enjoying a lot. You'll find pics of all that stuff in the galleries.

Ascent. Do you think they may be better for you than Phonics? I often think about your attraction to Phonics, and I share it, though I haven't had one for fifteen years now.

Welcome Hale... :)
Good to have You here!!!

The Ascent looks very tempting, especially some of the finishes, like Ebony Stripes... But, isn't the thickness bellow the Phonics?!?
Shane must have some more info on those - he had seen them "in flesh" I'm sure!!!

Once again - welcome...
A lot of new stuff here - like an S Classix in walnut roots... :D

Cliff that Designer set is lovely--the grain is out of the 80's!

Gregory, what are you playing? Bubinga Designers? Still got the S-Classixs?

Was that Kelly's? I guess I saw he has a set with very curly veneer too, or did he move it on down the line? :)

I think the more I play drums it seems that the shell thickness really matters to my ear. Coming out of the 90's where every shell had to be this maple, I've grown to really love the "feedback" from thicker-shelled drums. The Phonics are like tympani!

Goki, the shells are almost 9mm, so close. Shane hasn't gotten a test drive yet. If I had the money maybe I'd jump on a set, but not right now. It's funny though because the Link-era stuff could be bought sight unseen or "hearing unheard" and you knew you'd get an instrument of quality sound. Not so much these days, with any manufacturer. Maybe the Force 2000's ruined it for me. ;)
