Sounds like a lot of fun, Goki! Can't see much, some hands going and your beautiful kit lurking in the shadows. The credits don't list a tapan, but if it's that large barrel attached to the player, it's pretty cool. I like big drums. I think it's called a "darbuka" in the credits?

Gregory - a DARBUKA (or TARABUKA as we here call it) is a Turkish instrument played by hand. The TAPAN is played by sticks (or by hand, as a frame drum - but just for effects)...

On the picture above - the DARBUKA is in the front (the lovely white pearl instrument).
The TAPAN is in the back, next to my drums...

Goki, thanks for the explanation. I'd like the Darbuka for an umbrella stand, but the Tapan looks like the instrument for me. :D

Honestly Kelly - they opened a whole new view to my style and playing.

The tone is brighter, with more mids. And they're very easier to play - which makes me look like a child that just got his favorite toy for his 6th birthday... :lol:
Plus the looks... :D


I wouldn't trade them for anything Kelly...

I get best comments regarding sound from other musicians/producers too. Which is fantastic. The producer that recorded the show said they sounded amazing, especially the bass drum. And several musicians were out of breath by the looks, saying the drums sounded TOP CLASS...

All in all - one VERY satisfied S Classix owner... :)


P.S. Recordings should be in my hands this weekend... Boy oh boy... :D
