Yeah I don't know the history like you David, but he told me 1600. Now it's there for 1500.
I would think someone local would go pick it up for the 1500.
There is not another Premier Signia Marquis kit for sale anywhere on the planet that I could find.

I'm with you Goki... maybe $1200 for the kit and $200-250 shipping. They may end up being yours yet!

That's as high as I think I'd go if I really wanted this one. And they're worth it, quality-wise, even if the current market doesn't bear it.

It's funny.... I don't quite understand why people will hold out forever for another $100, when they could have completed a sale and had the money in their pocket and done something with it months before. I mean, didn't the other auction end at around $1250? He could have had his $1450 already and moved on. Now he's got a starting price of only $200 more, but it's above the highest price the ebay market told him people would pay?!

I predict they will sit there with no bids at that price. But then again I never thought they would go over $1K so what do I know?

- D.

PS -Kelly, if you think you might really want a set of Signia Marquis, you should contact Peter (forget his last name). He is "dancincrow" on ebay and we have done several deals over the years. He is the best contact in the U.S. for anything dealing with Premier, and he always has great stuff at hand and an awesome personal collection that he sells from too. Feel free to contact him as <dancincrowATearthlinkDOTnet> and tell him David Knauss set ya!

Cool reference, David. I have found the best buying and selling experiences have nothing to do with ebay. I have bought and sold quite a few things there and am not unhappy with the venue, but nothing particularly valuable.

I have noticed a weird trend for drums to sit at a price, go away and then return marked higher. Don't have any idea what that's about as it defies the normal course of commercial events. If nothing else, it demonstrates chutzpah!

I'm a firm believer in....her heyday is over.
Honestly though...after owning just about EVERYTHING Sonor has ever built, with the exception of Designers (no longer made) SClass Pro's (no longer made) and SClassix (the only thing Sonor has going for it right now), I'm over everything else and others have caught up, several have flown right on by.
Sonor the drum, Sonor the company, Sonor the forum, Sonor the customer service, Sonor arrogance, Sonor pricing, Sonor veneer....PFFT
I honestly can't stand the sound of Link era drums anymore. I appreciate what they are but don't want/can't play them. It's an unjustice to my musical ear.
I'm still addicted to pedigree though. Like my kits to be unique to an extent. This kit fits that bill perfectly.
I really like the look of it and 6mil Maple shells is just about what I would look for.

Yes, I did try to get them cheaper and he tried to get more for them. That is a negotiated price. It's California though so shipping is going to suck.

Kelly, Sounds like you are ready for a custom kit...

Ha...been down that road Latz. With 3 different sources.

Completely agree David. Never understood it myself. I would have been contacting the highest bidder the first time. But if it was me and I wanted to sell it, I wouldn't of had a reserve in the first place.

Thank you kindly for the info. Very very interesting series. Like it a lot. Don't know how far down the road I will go but I'll shoot him an email. The 20 x 18 kick is what drew me to it. Remarkable really that size was produced while the series was in production.

Greg,

The one thing I will say ebay has going for it, particularly in this economy, is that people actually go there looking to buy things! I have listed stuff on forums for years and it's a great way to do it because it is way more personal and there is less risk. But my experience this lately has been that forumites are doing more tire kicking and asking endless questions without ever really being serious about the purchase in the first place. Nice thing about ebay (there are many bad things too - like the fees and the new feedback rules for sellers), is that the auction does have an end date and potential buyers need to either put up or shut up (so to speak) by the end.

You do have to know the market and price your stuff to sell, however, which usually means breaking even at best these days.

They are pretty. I don't think I get the wood hoop thing. Nothing stopping them from getting seriously beat up from claw attachment and playing in general. Some of those hoops even look contorted.

The way the bass drum claws are hooked to the kick is both very cool and very scary.

A) That is one beautiful kit. Thank you God for not giving me more money, so that I can't have a building full of drums that I could never learn fully how to play any of them.

B) It is an interesting fact about forums, that on the large they are actively populated by people who talk a lot but don't have any money, or by lurkers waiting to see an unusual piece go by. Perhaps I occupy both categories. But I was describing my personal experience, not how the world works, not expressing a view about ebay or its practices. I have no criticism with its workings; it is what it is, and I find it a very useful tool.

I often comb ebay but am generally diverted elsewhere. Curious. Same thing is true when selling; even when mounted on ebay, sales have happened along other avenues, and I don't mean by stopping the auction for an offer.
