 Not so much.

There is actually a logic to the madness. A second Designer bop kit will let me leave the rercording set-up intact, still with a Designer kit to play out as well. These days I have been carting Signatures around, and that's just too much work.

Now if Greg gives me his Designer kit, too, I'll keep one of the kits at your house, and you can be a co-hoarder.
:? ;)

 Yeah, but don't forget it'll cost him a buck! :? But don't fall for it, Tim; he hasn't said which one :o

Thinking about selling all my faux veneer sonors and buy an SClassix in white oyster....just kidding
my brother in law (the carpenter) told me long time ago most of the sonor veneers were ALPI, so I'm not shocked at all. If they used the real stuff the prices of the sets would be much higher.

Hey, Rob; so that the last misbegotten cross between a horse and a donkey is not still loose in the pasture:

I appreciate your humor, but here's the thing: I would much rather have the white oyster kit, but that choice was not presented on level ground. I have never been able to warm up to my kit, and now I understand why not; it has all the appeal of clever formica.

Your not being shocked personally is like saying: "I already saw the body so when it was revealed he was a murderer I was not shocked." Does that make murder less shocking? Clearly not; the shock was experienced on viewing the body; the revelation is but confirmation. I recall you stating that your brother-in-law said it was fake, and perhaps that should have been sufficient warning. But Hohner was committing (to me, personally) that it was real.

You don't seem to care that the veneer is ersatz, but that is a variable in your decision equation, and not a constant you can expect others to assimilate.

I don't intend rudeness, but so what if the drums had been more expensive? I may (or may not) have bought one less drum, or I may (or may not) have bought the wrap. Or I may (or may not) have bought a Gretsch wood kit, but it is not Sonor's right to manipulate my decisions through disingenuous information.

Am I bitter? Surely not. Just sad, because this is the direction of the world and one more sign of the demise of a favored company.

To all those making arguments about why this ain't so bad, from "it costs less" to "it's better for the environment," from "it's modern business reality" to "until you knew, it didn't matter...": May I respectfully suggest another false remedy? A combination dispersal weapon to be placed smartly in the arsenal:

Co-hoarder, I like that. I would need to make room but I am sure I could do that.

Greg your enema story is a hoot!
