No.

Matt and I had been talking directly, and were able to get a good deal done.

A little bird flew in to tell me it's in Texas, headed for Austin. :D

Hmmm, probably delivery this afternoon. Why, I believe you'll have it this weekend! :D :D

Of course, "it" may just be a box of some sort, so my fingers are still crossed! :P

So today is the day!

Separately, UPS is scheduled to deliver my 18” Signature kick today, and FedEx is scheduled to deliver the new heads I have purchased to outfit the new kick today, after FedEx missing their initially posted target delivery date of yesterday for the heads.

For the first time I can ever recall, new toys are set to arrive before the weekend, rather than sit in the shipper’s local warehouse over the weekend, and arrive on Monday, when I have little free time available until the next weekend! Woohoo, almost.

The drum itself is set to arrive with no signature required. Happens all the time; my residence has no problems with packages left outside for delivery, when no one is at home. No problem expected.

The heads were shipped, unbeknownst to me until receiving the shipping confirmation and tracking info, were shipped with an ‘indirect signature required’.

Knowing how FedEx and UPS appear to conspire to wreck the best laid plans, I had left a note on the front door yesterday for FedEx indicating that it constituted my acceptance and acknowledgement of delivery, with my signature affixed, for the drumheads that were due yesterday. No explanation, but yesterday the scheduled delivery date changes to today instead.

Today, to avoid confusion, and ensure that both shippers deliver while no one is home, I add a second signed note (for UPS), even though no signature is required.

I get an auto-email notification this morning that FedEx has declined to deliver the package of drumheads ‘at the driver’s discretion’. Thirty minutes into the web of FedEx ‘customer service’, they contact the driver, and he swears that there was no authorization left on the door. Pressed further, he falls back to swearing that it was not signed. The dispatcher assures me that the driver will re-attempt, but will not deliver, if no signature is found. Fifteen minutes later, we have delivery confirmation. Driver looking to ensure his Saturday overtime, maybe?

One derailment averted, still waiting on the drum. Currently “out for delivery”.

It ain’t over ‘til its over.

Second box has arrived, purportedly with a kick drum inside.

Now I am the last variable in the equation, and have to see when I can get there.
