Something's not clicking. Premier's marketing system, anywhere, had a value to the big Y?

I really don't know much more than what is publicly written on sites such as Wiki. etc. which you can question for sure. What they say in the Yamaha bio is:

"Acquisition of Premier:
In 1987, Yamaha acquired the Premier Percussion factory in England in an attempt to establish the Yamaha name in the tougher European market. Yamaha placed machinery and trained the Premier craftsmen in the "Yamaha-way" of making drums, resulting in Premier producing a large number of Yamaha drums "made in England". In 1992, Yamaha withdrew and sold their stock shares back to Premier."

But you are absolutely right... Premier probably had a big hand in making their own bed.

Interesting. Does that mean there are actually Yamaha branded Premiers, or Premier branded Yamahas... or both?

Power V was made with black interiors like Premier APK for example, and the wood is birch with some luan...
Power V special have long lugs from hoop to hoop, clear interior and mahogany and poplar shells.
There is a third variation (pics 3 and 4),and these is Yamaha stage custom in fact, called Power V Special. Different tom mounts and shell component (basswood).
In some point Yamaha cut production in England and started in Indonesia.
I don't know do they made Power V Special there,or they called the drum Stage custom immediately...

From my personal experience - nothing worth spending Your money on... :geek:

So, basically it's a Premier shell with Yamaha hardware... :)
