I just happened to see a video wherein the drummer was executing a short (and not terribly even) one-hand roll, while with the other hand he was doing nothing!

What's the !@#$ing point?!

Dunno. Maybe you gotta twirl the other one or something? :?

I guess it's a start to doing something with the other. But why a video? You got me. Perhaps the other hand is already otherwise occupied, by definition? :?

:? :?

Ah! I had a pronoun voicing problem. You meant that the video was posted so that one could see that he only used one hand, not that I somehow divined it was one hand.

I couldn't quite grab hold of that thought - gratefully.

Tricky business, this English. A person has got to read Cliff with a comb! ;)

Well yeah, but that goes back to the reason you posted this. It is one thing to practice an execution with no other reason than to hone a skill, but quite another to publish it. I do quite a lot of the former and very little of the latter. By the next generation, everyone will be famous just for having been born. Everyone gets the medal.

Drumming these days, is becoming more of a sport than being musical IMO.

I just saw a solo video a few weeks ago with one handed rolls AND using a side snare (other topic) in a useful manner. At least it interests me. Finally.
I'll post it when I get home.

Rolling an un-needed snare down a hill with one hand? :?

Have a safe trip home, Kelly. Anxious to hear first reactions to the new kit when you get home.
