Gregory,
Working 60 hours a week at night has decimated my practice time, so I've got this on a post-it note on a practice pad at the entryway to my drum room:

RLR RLR LLR LRR

LRL LRL RRL RLL

The practice pad is fastened to a straight cymbal stand set to concert height.

Cool. What do you do with that, Brian?

I play it over and over on the practice pad until I sink into a deep trance. Then one day when I'm trying to come up with the ultimate triplet fill between snare, toms and bass, I'll attempt to floor my bandmates, who will politely smile and as if I can do it again, but "a bit less busy, please"

I've already too much trouble not playing paradiddles. I have to force myself to keep my double strokes double. Now that I've seen this, I can see why, when I break into triplet paradiddles, I get into big trouble, even bigger than double stroke triplet trouble.

The ONLY way I can get into the rhythm (can I say that?) is to accent the first note of each triplet while tapping 1,2,3,4 with my foot, then once I'm back in, I remove the accent.

Gregory: I've added another post it note; double stroke triplets! Been YEARS since I practiced those! Thanks!

Triplets fall between booze and cigars. What? You didn't know that?
