Yeah - this was FUN!!!

Thanx for sharing Gunnar. The sound is very SONOR. I can just imagine how good they'll sound recorded from upfront... :)

A fantastic set, and a fantastic finish. Congratulations once again Gunnar... :D

Tell me - the snare, did it belong to J-44?!? He offers a 20,12,16 set for $1000 I think...

Yeah Kel, guess we're our own toughest critic. :D

Appreciate the comments Roland and Goki! You know, I was pretty mortified by the yellow too but it's really grown on me. Especially on that kit w/the shallow toms and thin shells. BTW, that kick is 22 x18. As Gregory pointed out, the standard depth in the catalog is 16. Don't know if mine was a special order or not.

Nope Goki, that snare didn't come from Jeremy. That one's a maple light in green stain (6.5 deep). That snare is on the way (as well as a 13, 16, & 22) that I plan on integrating with the rest of my ML kit. I believe the snare I'm playing here (8" deep birch) originally was owned by Hale and I got it from the guy he sold it to.

Gunnar,

Your playing and drums sound great. I know they're not for everyone, but I have loved yellow lacquer kits since becoming a huge Tony Williams fan years ago. I'm actually working on piecing together a yellow kit now (Gretsch and Yamaha)... will post pictures after my house move is complete in 2 weeks.

Let me know if you ever decide to move the yellow birch Designers... I would probably be very interested.

- David

Thanks David! Look forward to checking out pics of the kit that you're putting together.

Will keep you in mind if I ever part with those Designers....for some reason, there's been a ton of interest in that particular kit. There's a 14" floor tom as part of that set as well, but I was obviously having trouble even getting to the 15" ft in the vid.

Hey Gunnar,

Great post and excellent playing!

It's always exciting to see a forum member put out their stuff for all of us to enjoy. Those birch shells definitely have a distinct tone that comes through in the video. Like Kel and Goki mentioned, they certainly have that "sonor sound!"

Looking forward to seeing more of these!
