On drums...

Some will remember that I bought this snare from Cliff. I know, I know, he never sells anything, but he decidedly didn't like this one. I think you can safely say that Cliff has never met a birch drum he liked.

I had been playing it for quite a while, and then switched back to the Lite, because while the Signature had a very fat middle hit, off-center hits tended to produce a ring that wasn't particularly musical. The other day I traded the coated Amb for an Amb weight Fiberskyn, and now the drum is fatter, with no annoying ring, but I like a little more liveliness to the edges. This ain't bad, but I think it could be better. I'm thinking of trying a Diplomat weight Fiberskyn head. Anyone tried them?

I used a Remo Diplomat Fiberskin on my Black Beauty, and loved it. I think it'll improve the sound your Sig. Lite.

Yes I do Greg. I went through 3 of them before switching to a thicker head. Even a little excitement within the groove of playing could break the head after about 2 weeks. Definitely NOT durable. But they sound great!

Not overly encouraging. I'm betting I could make one last longer than two weeks, but even so... I guess that makes them "average" on Remo's durability scale?

Greg you should try to find an Aquarian modern vintage thin for that drum. Might be just what the doctor ordered.
