Here is my current set-up of phonic rosewoods. 12"tt, 14"ft, 18"bd(floor tom conversion). Cymbals on this set are all from the 50's A Zildjians: 26" small stamp ride, 20" paper thin(1565g) ride, 16" trans stamp hihats, and 11" trans stamp splash.

Also my whole collection minus the 18"ft

Also my matching d515 and d516(now with hella hoops) snares:

Sorry pics aren't so great.

Thanks for looking, Gary.

Gary,

I think I do vaguely recall knowing that you had done an 18" conversion, but I don't remember seeing how it had turned out.

It is mostly 18's for me these days, and that bop kit looks really sweet.

Thanks for posting the photos.
;)

No kidding! Go to the rosewood forest and bring home a couple of appropriately sized trees for holidays. Are those Dip weight skins, Gary?

Beautiful kit with some very interesting cymbals. The veneering on the bass hoops looks fantastic!

Thanks for posting. :D

Thanks guys for the kind comments.

Gregory, those are ambasador weight. I really wish i would have went with the diplomats. I think it would give it a little more volume. I also have coated ambasadors on bottom and think i'm going to switch them out for some clears. No complaints with the current sound just want to try something different.

I bought a set of Amb weights for my Designers and quickly removed them. Not to say that they sound similar on Phonics, but they over-damped the Designers.

I would say the amb. defiantly made them darker. I had coated emperors when i was doing the rock thing and like that sound a lot but i wanted something darker so i choose the fiberskyn amb. and it did exactly as i wanted. I'm now ready for a more open sound and plan on getting something more like a coated amb top with clears on bottom.

As i said though, no complaints with the current sound just ready to change it up a bit.

Gary.

That is a great conversion. It goes so seamlessly with the other drums because of the gorgeous veneer. I have a near mint 18" left over from a Phonic Natural Oak set I sold recently. I always thought it would make for a great conversion, but now I have so few Natural Oak pieces that it isn't worth the trouble. I may post that 18" up here soon.

Thanks for posting your pics Gary. That is one beautiful set.
