I just tuned my toms with the drum dial, I wanted to try an experiment. Cliff said that a 2 ply head needs to be tuned slightly higher than a 1 ply reso. head. I found this to be very true.
For this recording:
I used coated G2's for the toms and clear G1's on the bottom.
EC Reverse Dot 1 ply on the snare with 200 snare side.
EMAD/EQ1 coated on Bass Drum.

DD Settings:
8", 10", 12" Toms. 78 Top with a 76 Resonant.
14" FT. 75 Top with a 73 Resonant.
16" FT. 72 Top with a 70.5 Resonant.
Snare Drum. Top 88 with a 75 Resonant.

With the clear G1's (no recording) top and bottom, I found matching the top with the resonant works great!
Enjoy.

Hey Greg,

Have not had the chance to listen yet, but it looks like the 2 tic spread pretty much held up for you as well.

Sounds great Greg. I like the range. I'm used to you tuning higher.
Thanks for posting as I need to tweak my 14, going to try your numbers.
Same kick heads I'm using except my EQ1 is black. So is your Emad coated also? Tempted to try that. Mine is clear. Didn't know it came in coated.

Hi Kelly. My EMAD is clear, I've heard sample comparisons of the clear and coated EMAD's, I can't tell a difference. I can't believe how lively a 2 ply head can be when it's tuned a little higher than the reso side. Thank you Clifford!
Let me know if those numbers work for you Kelly.
Thanks.

Those sound great, very close to my settings as well. I like that tune for a snare a lot.

Gary.

I listened to this again Greg.
A+ bro
I think it's my favorite recording from you. Those drums sound really full, tons of resonance. Love it.
