Hey guys, for Christmas I got a kickport. For the rock stuff I've been playing lately, I prefer a ported head. I applied the kick port to the front Evans EQ 3 reso head, instant rattle, I couldn't get rid of it. I put it on a Ebony PS3, still rattle. I then tried ambassador coated and clear, less rattle but unacceptable. Oh, did I mention it doesn't add low end to the kick drum? :o

I was hoping to read a Christmas new drum story here, but didn't expect that one, Greg!

Thanks for this Greg.
I've had one sitting here new in a package for roughly two years. I have been playing with no reso hole and couldn't bring myself to cutting up a 50 dollar head to try this contraption I knew nothing about.
Maybe you got a bad one, would you like another one to try :D

I don't understand. Robert Sweet of Stryper endorses it. And he has really big hair.

 God one Kelly, I'll pass on trying another one. Goki, I tried everything and it won't stop rattling! The "Rattleport" isn't for me.

UPDATE:
I got an e mail from KickPort, they told me to put some tape on the perimeter of the port hole, to eliminate the rattle. I tried that and it worked! There's some low end added, but not $40.00 worth. Then again, it's a Christmas gift. Overall not a bad piece of equipment, not great either. I'm going to keep it on, until I go back to a solid front.
Kelly: Don't ruin your $50.00 reso bass drum head with a kickport.

Yup, the best thing to do when porting a $50 head and not liking the sound, is to spend another $40 for the kickport... ;)

My idea would be to use that on a factory head, or something cheaper. But, as I've read, a lot of guys in the rock music are using it. Apparently, it does wonders on stage, when mic'd...
