I wish I had bought one of those when I had the chance, I am so f-in jealous of you. I liked the birdland kit but the gold hardware was a deal killer.
Go kill em!
All better.
Thanks, Tim. I'd love a fifties bop or prog kit, but probably can't afford one. I like the Birdland kit because of its historicity, if not for its glitter. Green and gold is a likable combination, particularly with that shade of green. There are guys out there willing to pay off the amount of a mortgage on a small house to own an original, and stories rage about their rarity.
There is something about these Gretsch kits, even with the squared up hardware, that seems somehow grown up. They are musical instruments with sweet dispositions and lots of character, but they demand respect when you sit down to play. You can read something about their character by looking at them.
Like Cliff, I'd love to try your kit.

Nice kits, both.
I think I would like to spend some time with either one (or both) to see how they work.
Wish we had more time at Greg's a month or so ago to get to know the Gretsch kit.
Wish we had, too, Cliff. But we spent what time we had well, and there wasn't enough of it to launch on another project.
