I still do that even with Designers. Well, I haven't been put to the test in quite this way, in a very long time, with the Designers. My memory on it is softer than the softest pedal, but I do recall having the problem on many other kits and pedals, but not on the Ds.
I had a rub up with a fellow who wanted to know "What was the big cannon noise in that last song?" I knew what he was talking about, because I was only hitting every other measure, a snare pop on 4, a solid open bass note and flat-ride crash
on the following 1, played real slow, like at 54 bpm. "Where were you when you heard this cannon?" I asked. "Against the back wall," he said.
