Speaking of which, what outfit are you working with- the power trio or the group that could all sing? I got a little confused as to which project you decided to pursue? :?

Thanks, Kelly. Did you figure out why you could not access the sample from home before?

I was pleasantly surprised with the recording results as well.

Rehearsal is in my studio, which is well set up for drum tracking alone, but not well equipped for multi-instrument tracking. I have no capability for isolating sound sources.

These tracks were done with just my kit set up for recording, and a line out from each of the bass amp and the piano amp. The challenge was the amount of bleed from amp speakers in the drum overheads.

I think I can work around that when it comes time to do some real recording, but for 'documentary purposes, this worked better than I had expected.

Hey, Cliff, it has the components! Nothing awry that a few more sheds won't work out. The recording set up favors your drums, but I guess that's no surprise. One thing I've always enjoyed about you; you've got high standards, but you never let that get in the way of presenting a rough draft.

Ron sent me a CD of a recording he made a while ago, I think you'd like to listen to it. I'll send it on to you, pending Ron's permission, of course. Or maybe he can send you one so I can keep this copy.

Cliff,

Sounds great! I love your brush work and the groove you set up! Is this the piano player that was arriving the last time we spoke?

One thing...is it my ear, or is the bass intonation off just a tad? The notes sound a little on the flat side.

Thank you, Jeff.

We are having a good time, and are still very early on the curve of getting familiar with each other.

Hey Mike,

No, this is not the same pianist. That guy had a need to make an immediate living, and most of his time is committed to gigging in piano bars, etc.

Yup, the bass player is a recent convert from fretted electric bass to an upright acoustic/electric.

There is a development curve there that I am comfortable working through.

Good to hear from you, Mike.

I just needed to wait a few mintues for it to pop up Cliff.

Croyd....they both appear to be gone at the moment. Wasn't happy with the trio and I think the bigger band is mad at me.
Too bad, I was gonna post some video here of that band.
I'm currently pursuing another band I would really like to be in.

Last Sunday was as good a spring day as we get in Texas. We had a 'band family' pot luck cook-out in the back yard and did a ten tune run-through.

Worked out well, and not too many problems, other than partial failure to resist the temptation to fill the out doors with sound (read: play a bit louder than optimal). :?

This was my first chance to use the Signatures with G1's, the cut down 12", and the recently acquired 18" kick with this band, and I was very pleased with how they worked.

Settled on a name (River City Trio), and Teri has begun framing a website for us.

The guys are working on bio's, and we should begin working on getting 3-4 tunes recorded for the website, electronic press kit, and a handout demo CD.
