I love square Toms, so I would rather have done a Plus kit anyway, just didn't want to veneer the Mahogany Plusses  .
And I'm not at all concerned about the value of the kit, I want to keep this kit, and hope it can stay in the family for generations. My point was, not sure if the beater kit was worth the effort, and expense.
The 24x18 I have is in VGC, as are the 12+16. This will be my ' Look at That :D ' kit, and she will be spectacular.
My Phonics have been set up in a damp jam room for 5yrs, their previous owner had set the Bass Drum on fire with a candle, and for most of their life they have been their own cases :? .She is a definite workhorse, but, she sounds amazing, records beautifully, and I'm not precious about her, and I love her for that. :D

Cheers

The 12,13 + 16 arrived today.
Shells/Chrome look good, covering is going, and luckily, the least yellowing drum is the 13, which is staying White for the Jungle/Bop/Kids kit = 10x8 Phonic,13x13+18x19 Phonic Plusses.

Pics of both soon

Cheers

Looks like an interesting and challenging process, Jeff.

I admire your willingness to take it on.

You are going to have something to be proud of.

Jeff, are you depending on those few wraps to clamp the veneer? If so, you will probably want to consider more tubes, so that the entire length of veneer is clamped. Not sure how the glue will respond to the varying pressures.

The veneer looks great, and I too am impressed at your willingness to take on the project! I never have.

Cheers Cliff and Gregory ;) , I'm not 100% confident, but theres always an out, I can re-strip and start again, nothin' ventured, nothin' gained.

Gregory, he used other wrapping devices aswell, this was just a couple of quick pics to show the minimal  progress that is being achieved, always difficult when friends are helping, sometimes its easier to just pay the big bucks, if you've got 'em.

I'll keep updates coming ;)

Cheers
