A while back there was some discussion of K Zildjian flat rides, and I mentioned regretting not having gotten one when I bought a set of K’s back in the ‘90’s.

At the time, David (phatsolid) was kind enough to offer me a trial spin on a 20” K light flat he has (had?), but I had just picked up a new Diril 20” Jazz Series flat ride, and it works well with both the K’s and another set of mixed Constantinoples and K Custom’s, and I passed. I think I had in the back of my mind making the next flat ride and 18”, recalling the 18” K Custom Flat Ride that Goki now has.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up an 18” K Flat Ride from about the same period as my K’s from Scott over at the museum, and have had a chance to spend a little time with it. I am glad I got an 18”, and am really liking it. I am not sure that I would use it for jazz so much, but it fits really nicely with the 20” K Ride as a second ride for a rock setup. I think a 20” K Flat Ride would have been too much like the K Ride.

Goki, I think you would really like this one, too, but don’t hold your breath on this one.
:? ;)

Don't worry Cliff - the one I got (from You) is used and needs no substitute... ;)

I have been looking for a 90s 18" K flat ever since playing with another drummer who used one with a Promark sizzle chain thing as a crash. This was 8 years ago and I have yet to find one for a price I can't refuse... :)

Mine is not Promark - just a simple ball chain...

It does wonders... :)

Thanks Cliff...

Pro Mark or not, it really adds a cool dimension to the flat!

I played a friend's kit the other day. He has a Paiste Traditionals 18" Flat. I like it as much as the K.
