No, not still there. Just listened to some of it. I'm disappointed in the quality of recording; not really good enough even for study purposes. Everything but the drums sound good, but the drums are bouncing all over the room. Everyone said the sound was fantastic, so I'm left wondering.

It's because there is a frequency fight in the microphone of the H4.
You can't win recording drums and amps/PA, with a single stereo microphone.

I'm sure the drums sounded great that evening - BUT if they were not micd through a PA system, the recorded drums would be blury and weird, burried by all those clear frequencies from the amplifiers...

If You were an acoustic band, the results would have been better...

That makes sense. If the drums in the audience had sounded like they did in the recording, there are more than a few people who would have told me. I think it would have sounded great recorded on stage.

Hey Greg,

Somehow, I had missed this, and did not see it until this morning. I have been playing with a new phone since Saturday and it may be as simple as having not scrolled down far enough to see this.

I even went to the http://www.cupolamusic.com last night to see what you were talking about when you mentioned a photo; never occurred to me that it was here.

Back to computer this morning, and saw the string.

I was wondering why reference to the photo brought no sign of recognition. It's always great talking with you; somehow I always end up learning a ton, as you and I seem to be on a similar trajectory, but you are farther along on the arc.

For instance, I have been setting up the drums, whenever possible, on stage right for about six or seven years now. I thought I was being rather eccentric, but I wanted to be able to see the faces and hands of the other players. Talking to you, I discover that's standard in jazz circles (duh, I might have thought about that), but that the piano placement, when using a grand, dictates a stage left kit.

We had a last minute grand on stage, a request from the host of the party. So it was rolled out behind me, too late to move me and everyone else, amps, mics and cords, in reverse order across the stage. From now on, I'll set up stage left without thinking.
