I can appreciate your perspective, Kel.

It must be a micro version of what I felt like living through the 80's.

I wish there had been a link to music and music video that I could have not clicked back then.
:?

Frankly, I don't put a lot of import on someone's expression while they're playing. Derek Trucks can play the most amazingly emotive stuff and look like he's reading a book while doing it. And personally I look totally constipated when I play. It's embarrassing. Even when I'm totally enjoying myself and the ideas are flowing smoothly... so to speak! ;)

Expressions are an eye into character, and as such are always interesting, part of what makes live performances so much more interesting than recorded. But I agree with you inasmuch as there is no "normal" expression one should have, whether extroverted, introverted, excited or calm. I hate watching myself on video, but that's probably the same thing as hearing your voice on recording: with few exceptions, nobody likes their own.

What is troubling about ol' Philly's fizz is the hangdog look of a guy who's self assessment has gone through the basement. Probably his conscience working on him, my guess. Bloody damn monkey!
