One of thee most unplayable heads I've come across. Had I taken it out of the box in the store, I would have known then and never brought it home. It's like pulling a slice of concrete out of the box.
It wants one tuning and one tuning only. Needs to be pretty tight to control that mass. And then it sounds just like it feels.

Not sure why thick single ply heads don't work and the same thickness two ply's do.
Any thoughts are welcomed

So how's its durability rating. Average?

Guaranteed for life. And not just yours. Any surviving family member can return it if it wears out.

According to the Evans website:
"The new G14 batter heads are the loudest, most durable single-ply drum heads on the market. Crafted using 14mil thick film instead of the industry standard 10mil, the G14 has a much longer durability without losing the characteristics of a single-ply drum head. Ideal for use in high-volume performance situations, the G14 can withstand heavy playing while projecting through the mix to provide a full, aggressive sound.''

That sounds like a head that is going for a market of players that are more concerned with durability than flexibility of tuning, etc.

...than flexibility of any sort, apparently.
