On drums...

The opportunity to get a cheap beat up , severely beat up , like, been thrown in the back of a Concrete Mixing Truck kinda beat up Force Maple kit has popped up.
I actually sold this kit (at work) New, old stock, over 10yrs ago. I remember the drums to be real nice, but can't remember specifics, and/or what they may compare to.
The kit is 8x8,10x9,12x10,14x12,22x16?,14x6.5, there are no Tom arms, and these are very hard to find in Australia.
What are these things worth, hard to say as a beater, but if the damage is cosmetic, whats tha go?

Price wise I did pretty good on mine. Mine were mint though. 10, 12, 14, 16, 22. I got 1200 for them.
Sound wise, I can see how they might have caused a stir when they came out. But anyone that has moved on past link era kits will find them lacking in every area. They seemed more like toys to me or a really good beginner kit.

Might get it for under $500, but without arms shes useless .

Yeah I don't know how to tell you, they are great drums but there are others that do what they were meant to do, alot better.
Without being aware of the others, I would be raving about them.
Sure were great looking drums. One of the main killers for me was the 16" depth kick. Hope I never have to go back below 17.5.

Cheers Kel, the sizes don't suit me at all,currently. So Its a bit of a tough one, I find it hard to just say NO , when its comes to Sonor, they are hard to find down here

Well, we bought the kit instore at work. Another guy at work was there when we originally sold the kit in '97.
We used to jam at work, the Force Maple kit was usually set up Left handed (for me) and he'd play whatever, for a little while he played the Force kit while I played the Ebony Signature Bop kit we had .
A Shame to see these drums in this condition, and equally a shame to load 3 of his brand new drums straight into his boot (trunk) un-covered . It just reminded me of the day he opened that boot to show me the pile of Force Maple drums .

Anyways, we want to keep the kit for hire (can't get anymore beat up), and I might tax the snare for myself, she seriously needs some love, and a top edge re-cut.

Congratulations Jeff...

The one thing that always made me stay positive is that - no matter how beat up a SONOR kit is, You'd still be able to bring it to life and make it sound fantastic...


Congratulations once again... I think Force Maple drums are fantastic sets. Especially for gigs/rental...

Yep, there are different degrees of neglect, and also different extremes of abuse .
This one has been abused, not the worst I've seen, and definitely salvageable in some kinda format, but she'll NEVER be a showpiece with the current finish, pity that, the Birdseye looks just like a non-gloss designer, or at least it did once
