Sigs definitely set the bar for weight. I never owned them but moved a few and still remember.
I guess my last direct comparison was classix vs designer, and my designer kick weighed much more than my 22 classix.

Picking up a Classix bass argues in favor of some weight to drums. First, you think you paid way too much for way too little, and second you begin to fear a light breeze. But Classix do what they do admirably, and I very much like mine even though I almost never play them since I got the Designers.

I am so used to schlepping Sigs that Designers are no sweat.

Goki, I think I understand you, but how do you differentiate playing "pro" from playing "for and from the heart"?

Playing "pro" means that You have a credit card, a bank account, and You pay social and health insurance... You're concerned about Your look on stage, but often someone else bothers with Your gear...
Playing "for and from the heart" means that You have enough for peanuts, but people see that what You do is filled with love. You don't bother to have 9 gigs a week, in fact 1 a month is enough... You play seldom, but when You do, it's like driving Your '65 Mustang on a sunny day - You just know everyone is looking at YOUR kit!!! :P :P :P

Ahhh. So playing pro means you have a government job? That let's me out. You guys are paying my health insurance, so I can gig the Designers. :D

Now get back to work and stop fooling around.

No no Greg... No government job... Playing in a BAND or for a top singer makes You permanently employed... ;)
Playing from the heart means that You have a day job that finances your drum gear... :D And someone elses health plan...

I don't think I'll lug the Phonic Plus kit around anymore. The SClassix are awesome for gigging.
Love to have a Designer one day, but I would leave that at home too. Dream kit is a Siggy, that would stay at home too.
I think I would probably gig an SQ2 b4 gigging a Designer, but I'd be just as happy to gig a 3007  if I can't have Beech or SClassix Birch.
Love recording with Beech, but thats just the sound I'm into now, gonna do some pre-prod today with my New Audix mics, Phonic 12x8,16x16,24x14 and Stitchy (14x8 HLD580 Heavy, Makassar Ebony), got all day to set mics up, and I'm excited, Sorry  , got a little off topic.

Cheers :D
