Continuing from Jeff's thread, this seems worthwhile posting... Some great insights, some of which we have addressed here:

Thanks Gregory, that was great ;) .
It's good to see a humble, honest guy who is quite obviously a pioneer of his craft, despite his denial of it.
In '84 I had a Modern Drummer interview with Larry Mullen Jr from U2, U2 were my favorite band at the time, I still think 'The Unforgettable Fire' is a classic album (in '84 I was 11).
I remember Larry saying 'I'm not a good drummer', which I could never understand, as I was a beginner, and really admired his playing. then I went through the 'Show Off, fill all the space, play as much crap as you can' Phase, when I thought he, and most Rock drummers were Shite.
Coming out the other end of the above mentioned phase is quite liberating. I like it when Charlie explains how he wants it to swing, so people will dance, and how 'Miss You' is Techno  .
Dance music maybe Charlie, but 'Techno', No Way,Dems Fightin' Werds

Cheers

I'd guess he meant disco. Notice how he speaks is a lot like the way he plays; leaves a lot of room between actual words, half sentences, some words half spoken, others jarring, but still manages to get his meaning across.

Absolutely, and smooth and seductive in its own way. :? :| ;)
