Love the different lathing patterns coming out of Turkey.
Bosphorus do a line named 'New Orleans', which has a similar lathing pattern.

I've checked out Diril's website several times, and I like what I see.
We get Emails at work from unknown Turkish Cymbal Manufacturers, seeking distribution in Australia.
I might see if Diril can send some samples.
Lets say, 14' Special series HiHat, 20 Special Ride, 16+18 thin Jazz, and maybe 10+12 Jazz, Traditional or Special series Splashes.
Not for me :?, to show customers, and 'promote', and use Live, ,at home, in the studio, at home, and wherever I can 'promote' these cymbals. Even in my home studio :?   :D

Cheers

Cliff, Is that a D3 on your 8? Was considering one for my 6in Concert Tom.
How have you mic'd the floors, from the reso? Worked for me with those Phase issues I mentioned to you.
G Plus on the snare? You Like?

Cheers

Hey Jeff,

Yes, D3 on the 8" and on the 12". Floor toms both have D4's. The mic on the 14" is concealed by the cymbals, and the one on the 16" is just out of the photo.

Do you hear any unfavorable issues in the clip posted earlier in this string?

Interesting solution, micing from the reso on your floor toms. Do you loose much of the attack?

I love the G Plus as a snare batter head. Thickens up the drum a litttle bit, and the coating has stood up well. Highly recommended.
;)

With the HyperCardiod pattern, does the 14's D4 pick up some Ride cymbal wash?

Not at all criticising the Recordings sound, noticed all the mic's pointing in the same direction, pedantic, but the correct way to cancel Phase issues.
I have trouble getting that kinda position on my mics, I thought my new set up was basic, looks that way, but apparently not that easy to mic  .

Hey Jeff,

Did not think that you were criticizing the recording, but I was inviting you to, in case you had noticed something unfavorable that I had not.

I do use some gating on the floor tom mics, but there is not a noticeable level of wash that comes through when the gate is open.

Seems like it is all a series of compromises, eh?.

Sometimes the more you add or fatten something up, it just sucks the life from somewhere else.
Many popular Rock 'high end' recordings sound that way to me, the Guitars are so huge, the drums have trouble being heard, let alone sounding nice  . With the modern Rock/Metal/Hardcore so on....... recordings, you could be using any $200-$20,000 kit, and NOBODY could tell the difference.
