I keep telling you that you should test drive my cherry wood snare! I know you're ridiculously picky, but I think even you might be impressed with it!!

I bought a Mapex Saturn 10 lug 5.5x14 snare for $200 on ebay a few years ago and flipped it to a needy friend for my cost. It was beautifully finished and, perhaps more importantly, a beautiful sounding modern snare drum. My friend needed it more than I did. It could hold it's own with (gasp) SONOR!
In my estimation, Mapex offers the greatest quality/price rapport out there. Perhaps the Rodney Dangerfield of drum makers. The great Herlin Riley is an endorser.http://usa.mapexdrums.com/news/news_story.asp?ID=116

Was "next day" too slow for ya haha

The Orion series appears to sell for a fairly high price. A three piece jazz kit for $2100, with most kits in the mid three grand territory. I don't think the Mapa kit, limited edition of fifty kits is going to be cheap.

Went to their website and had a listen to the samples. Nothing there is making me want to get rid of my Sonors, but the Meridian maple or birch sound great for about a grand.
