They look very nice. Gouging claws don't bother me; the Sigs were that way and with just a little care to place the hoop in the same place, the effects are never seen.

Congrats on the kit, Kelly, and I look forward to how much you love 'em. At least until Thanksgiving. :P

Thanks Goki. Your enthusiasm is very much appreciated.

Got the 10 and 12 tuned up. I sent Cliff a message cuz he knows I hate 12's. Honestly had no problem with this one. First one I ever had I really like the sound of. Honestly.

Short story. A few folks told me early on "Good luck finding a matching 8 tom, will take you years".
Well....they don't know me. I found one.
Found it on a guys kit. But it doesn't match his. He was looking for a 8 Marquis tom to match his, been looking for years. They say those are even more rare.
So....I found one of them :D and figured we just trade.
He doesn't want it because it has a few scuffs on it :(

Awesome!
I love signia's, someday I would love to have one, been trying to track down just the right sizes though, always a pain.
They do sound incredible, engineers swear by them

Wow, those are purdy ones!

Those tubes lugs are a bear... about 2 lbs each! But Premier was always known for their great chrome and those look no different. Like a shiny sports car.

The RokLok double tom mounts never thrilled me either for adjustability, but these are pretty minor issues when you consider how those babies sing!

Curious to hear your thoughts on the 20" BD too.

Dave, this kit has a 22 x 18. The Marquis kit I am considering has a 20 x 18.

I'll tell ya I've read elsewhere about the drums being heavy and I really don't see it. Was quite shocked actually how light they are. Very well built but I don't get the heavy thing. My 14 and 16 hang toms went quite comfortably onto the double stand.
I was very concerned when I had a 14 and 16 Designer toms hanging on a stand.
And I definitely wasn't thinking "heavy" moving the kick around. Maybe those Marquis are a lot heavier with the heavier rims?

Can't wait to see them setup Kelly...

I think that if one played a Phonic, Signature, or Designer Heavy - nothing even comes close regarding weight...
My Hilite 16" floor tom was heavier than the 18" Gretsch bd and the 12" tom on top...

P.S. GREAT avatar - nice to catch more than the eye... :P

It's quite possible that I'm just getting old and they just seemed so heavy compared to my other kits with smaller hollow tubes lugs and flange rims. But I also hauled the 22x18 around in a hard shell case so that added a lot of weight too.

If you do ever get a chance to check out those low profile diecast rims on the Marquis kits... those were worth their weight in gold to me.

Bang away! :P
