One plus is all the gold pieces are good. So I can take those off and replace a few scuffed ones on my 14.

Better use the hardware, and make a wall lamp from the rest... ;)

It's sad to see pics like these...

Ouch.. I am assuming the cracks go all the way through? It could be fixed, but it will never be like new... could come close, if one were to take their time with it.

Kelly,

Your set looks beautiful. The finish is out of this world. The pic of that 13" made my heart sink to my stomach. :( I can only imagine how you felt when you opened it. The complete initial impact of the fall seems to have hit directly on those lugs which only isolated and intensified the damage that much more. You are a brave soul if you want to take that on as part of a woodworking project. In your neck of the woods there are probably many a good luthier who would attempt the repair. They know wood, finishes and musical instruments in regards to vibration and projection.

I had once made the mistake of not setting my very expensive classical guitar in it's case for just a minute. I took it to school to show my students and leaned it against my desk strings down. After a few seconds, it slid off my desk and hit right on the nut where the neck meets the head. :o My classroom had unpadded carpet with concrete underneath. The neck split at that joint. I almost cried in front of my students. I thought for sure that it was irreparable but I took it to and old luthier friend of mine. Long story short, my guitar is as good as new and the repair is almost invisible. :D Good luck.

Roland

I also had the same thing happen to my favorite guitar years ago. Left it leaning for 10 seconds and someone walked by and got caught in the cord. Broke off at the neck.

The drum also saddens me. Once they are gone, they are gone. Not a lot of these were made and I would imagine probably not many 13's. I don't use the size but wanted it anyway. I'm still greatful the two pieces I really needed are perfect condition.

Practice for both bands start this weekend so working feverishly to get the kit finished. Got the bass drum to do tonight and then spend a few days dialing the kit in. I'm sure it won't sound as good clean :D

Everything has been completely taken down, cleaned and polished.
The only one not done in these pics is the kick. Not shown is the 20" kick and the mortally wounded 13.
Side note: My wife wished I didn't spend so much time in the basement so....the dining room is filled with drums :D
She should be happy I sold the PA.
