Picture taken of a picture with my cell phone. Too lazy to scan.
She says she doesn't know where my music album went.

I'm having Dokken, WhiteSnake, Quiet Riot, Journey, and even Stryper flashbacks!!....   :P :P

The picture of you behind the kit is awesome, too!! Congrats on the band, the gig, and the obvious joy. If anybody deserves it, its you...

Those pics made my day! :D :D

This is a great thread!

I have only ever setup my entire SQ2 once and it was an awesome sight but just way too much to play properly or easily. (Could barely reach my 18" floor) I think you can just get a little lost playing a huge kit and possibly you trade all those drums for some fundamental stuff. I generally play either a 5 or 6 piece. I only got the huge SQ2 kit as I wanted to be able to cover as many bases in the future as possible and as I evolve as a drummer. I love all the sonic differences you get with all the differing sizes of toms(I love ocotbans for instance) and for some music it fits in well but even just moving a large kit is a killer! I recently bought a 6 piece Mapex Maple kit just to leave in my practice room (4 miles away) and it has reinforced my feelings towards playing a smaller kit than my Q's.

Great to see all you guys in here by the way :)

Cheers

Ron

Great to see you too, Ron.

There are some guys who make the big kit thing into an art form, like Terry Bozzio...

Ron....what are the specs/sizes of your Q's. That kit is one of the nicest SQ's I have seen. It's gorgeous.
What Mapex kit did you get?

Hey Kelly!

How you doing?

Thanks for your kind words on my SQ2's :) Can never get too many compliments on them! haha

They are all medium maple, chrome hardware, walnut root high gloss out, Natural lacquer within.

Kick 22x18
Toms 8x8, 10x10, 12x12, 14x14, 16x16, 18x18

And they kick some serious ass!

The Mapex I picked up is a Meridian maple set in Green apple sparkle and for the money I am blown away with the sound from it. I paid just a little over £500 for it brand new. All maple shells and nice sizes (Apart from the 13" tom) I would have preferred a 14" but the deal was too good to say no! I have left the chinese remo pinstripe heads on it that it came with and they are actually doing ok which surprised me. I really wanted to get a Force 3007 set to leave at my practice place but at £900 it just seemed a little daft against the Mapex deal. Oh if your interested the sizes of the mapex are as follows. I have lots of pic's of my SQ2's on my myspace site if you want a look. Also a few of my snares, mapex kit etc.

www.myspace.com/midiron

Kick 22x18
Toms 10x7, 12x9, 13x10, 16x16
Snare 14x5.5

Really great to see everybody here again. Thanks for setting this place up!! :)

ahha! That's why it always appealed to me. I'm a squared tom junkie myself.

I've been checking out the Mapex kits for a few months now. One of these days....

I will check out your myspace when I am home later.
Feel very free to post any pics here. Love to look. There is a section for it.
