Well, tomorrow I head out once again as a full time gigger. I alluded to this on the stupid question thread about endorsing. To make short of a long story, a good friend of mine, with whom I have toured before, has a great ministry that I am proud to be a part of. His name is Tony Melendez. You can Google him for more information. Tony was born without arms and plays guitar with his feet. Yeah, you read correctly...with his feet. I had the honor of touring with him about 15 years ago and then after that, I was living in NW Arkansas when he had a show in Branson so I would fill in for his drummer on occasion.
I will be covering both drums and guitar duties. Tomorrow I fly out to the Dominican Republic for the first gig of this new adventure. I know, it's a rough way to start just as the cold weather moves in stateside.
They will provide cartage as far as the drums go, but I am taking a Roland Hand-Sonic with a few choice sets just in case the drums are dogs.
We will be there a couple of days and then we play a few venues and schools in the McAllen Texas area. I figure at my age, this might be the last opportunity I will have to be a "touring Musician" so I better take advantage of the opportunity.
Although life on the road can be a drag at times,
my wife and I are in sync on this, and the income from local gigs and teaching has dipped pretty steadily. The timing is perfect so here goes nothin'!!!
