Yup, the best thing to do when porting a $50 head and not liking the sound, is to spend another $40 for the kickport... ;)

My idea would be to use that on a factory head, or something cheaper. But, as I've read, a lot of guys in the rock music are using it. Apparently, it does wonders on stage, when mic'd...

To get the full effect of the KickPort, you need a mic inside the kick for the attack, and one on the outside in the bell of the KickPort for the low end. Mix of the 2 mic's, and it sounds good. I'm thinking about making a Youtube video with the KickPort. I still prefer a solid front head, with a mic inside. But for the heavy rock music, I like a ported head.

That's their fix??
If they know it does that why don't they fix it themselves. A piece of felt or something around the edge.

I think I have a better fix: don't make a hole. A hole is a temptation to put things in it.

Have you guys seen the full size kick ports? Basically a full size one the size of your kick drum! Looks bonkers!

Nope, but once you become size conscious, you are hooked. I'm holding out, if you will, for the one that's larger than my drum.

They're porting snare and toms now, the sound is horrible! The question is, what will get ported next?
