No...just another way to get into your wallet. On the Sonormuseum site they're already getting in line to buy it.

If his foot was on sale, I'd take it... ;)

Otherwise, a pedal just like all the others out there...

I wonder if the price is perfectly balanced, too...
I'm expecting $250 for this baby...

ONE thing made me very concerned. IF you watch the videos, you'll hear JoJo explaining that if you tighten the docking variation on the pedal, you can damage the locking mechanism - and then the pedal is useless...
That makes me realize that all details were not looked into. I don't like that idea...

Actually, I think there are some new (or old and brought back) things to this pedal. Modern pedals do not have fast enough return unless you crank the springs which does make the forward push feel weird. Hard to know how all those mechanisms will hold up over time. But I'm afraid it will be priced way out of my price point for a pedal. I'm more of a $40 used pedal guy.

I would like to have seen some of his homemade mongrels!

Talk about not looking into details...

...how are you going to attach that foot?

Have you considered the problems associated with re-selling it if it isn't what you want?
:?

I'd be uneasy if I had to set the pedal up in a hurry, on an unfamiliar bass drum, but in a calm setting it shouldn't be a problem. I do wonder how easy it is to set up on carpet. One thing I like about the GS docking station is that the pedal will conform to any angle without putting stress on the hoop. Hey, at least this pedal has instructions so an owner has a hope of figuring it out. On both Designer kits I bought, the previous owners had failed set the bass spur vernier angle locks and the leg extension locks. Apparently, Hohner fielded numerous warranty claims; I suspect operator error - Germans assume a certain amount of customer mechanical empathy. :o

The Gretsch pedal on my drum teacher's kit unsettled me every time I sat at the kit. Nonetheless, it played very nicely, and I can still remember the feel. For fans of that action, this may well be a great product. Jojo is built like a bird, light weight and nervous. Not sure how a big boned character like me can make a lot of use of a pedal like that - the Giant Step is capable of far more than I am -but it would be fun to try it out.

I'd like to try it and see how it feels and I like the folding idea. I have to fully agree with Goki and say how the hell are they planning on great sales when on the very first launch video Jojo himself tells you not to over tighten the hoop clamp?!?!? Come on guys talk about covering your back!

Might sound iffy, but those directions that should have been included with tom mounting clamps Sonor made back in the Link era, too. Those clamps were capable of creating enough force to break themselves and to bend the housings around them.
