did holding it in your hand while it was running prevent it from cooling?
I don't doubt me clutching it firmly in the middle of a VERY energetic gig had something to do with the unit being a little warmer than usual but having used it to film my own gigs sitting on a tripod untouched for an hour it was still roasting by the end of filming. I maybe had a faulty unit but I doubt it as it all happened twice. I did not contact Zoom themselves as I bought it through Amazon UK. They gave me a full refund right away for both units. Still have not found an alternative unfortunately. Before that I tried the Kodak Playsport and would you believe had to get a replacement for that too as it also froze a few times on me in Italy while recording a jazz festival. I got a replacement camera free of charge and sold it right away. It as also TERRIBLE in low light and far worse than the Zoom. The Zoom too is pretty poor though in low light situations. Considering most gigs are in low light it is a bit of a let down. Hopefully in the future somebody will at long last get it right! Can't speak highly enough of how well it copes with audio though. Really impressive.
The new Olympus version looks alright but why why why did they put the lens on the top edge of the camera?!?!?! I get the idea alright but I don't like it. It too gets poor reviews for low light level situations which is not surprising.
So the quest continues to find a nice portable HD camera that can cope with low light and also picks up really good quality audio.........
