You think so?!?

Compared to my Designer double cymbal stand - the hi hat I have is almost the same weight...
My old Yamaha 700 series hi hat stand was almost half the weight...

I'm after something light but sturdy... Durable...

We shall see...

Not any more...

I just picked both up, and you are right; the 600 is a good bit lighter, but not so much lighter that I would buy it for that reason alone. Unlike cymbal stands which (except for certain awkward set-up situations) require little more than vertical stability, hat stands can see some very interesting forces, and as such require a bit of bulk for torsional as well as vertical stress.

Obviously, you might be willing to sacrifice a bit of durability (as in long range, not short term where the piece falls apart while you're playing) for weight. I think much of the drum hardware weight is just hardware fetish rather than practical consideration. Most folks are not planning to hang from their cymbal stands. I like the flat leg DW stands generally, and that DW 6500 weighing in at 5 lbs. might be a good piece, assuming you play on fairly flat ground!

Yeah I was going to say no way they could weigh the same.
While a Sig/Phonic hihat feels terrific, they were noticeably sluggish (well..lets say took more effort to achieve the same result) after getting into the newer series.

I agree with Greg, that stuff is just marvelous to have. I would like to have a room full. But to use it in my daily routine would be sacrificing one quality for another and the trade off would be pretty unbalanced.

I play my Lite hihatstand for over 25 years now. It may be a bit heavy but I never found a hihatstand that feels so good (for my foot). It starts to get old now (like it's boss) so I must go find a replacement. Maybe a 600, I don't know yet. 200€ is a lot of money...

Well - I went to the drum shop Friday...

They have the HH444 model... :(
Two mayor weak points:
1) They have the old lugs...
2) The hi hat rod is standard - no hex rod...

Search moves on...

Are those things labeled Goki? Are you sure it was a 400 series?
I'm only asking because I had a few of both series, 600 and 400, and neither were labeled. Is it possible the one you looked at was a 200 series?
My 400's had hexrods and the Sonor site shows them with hexrods in pictures and description.

You're absolutely right Kelly - but You're talking about the HH 484...

Back here - they sell the HH 444 (that thing has some serious issues)...
