All better.

Thanks, Tim. I'd love a fifties bop or prog kit, but probably can't afford one. I like the Birdland kit because of its historicity, if not for its glitter. Green and gold is a likable combination, particularly with that shade of green. There are guys out there willing to pay off the amount of a mortgage on a small house to own an original, and stories rage about their rarity.

There is something about these Gretsch kits, even with the squared up hardware, that seems somehow grown up. They are musical instruments with sweet dispositions and lots of character, but they demand respect when you sit down to play. You can read something about their character by looking at them.

Like Cliff, I'd love to try your kit.

Nice kits, both.

I think I would like to spend some time with either one (or both) to see how they work.

Wish we had more time at Greg's a month or so ago to get to know the Gretsch kit.

Wish we had, too, Cliff. But we spent what time we had well, and there wasn't enough of it to launch on another project.

Great kits for sure!!!

I never liked the high tuned Gretsch sound - but there's certain chemistry and mystique when playing old Gretsch sets (especially bop ones)...

Gig was played, the kit was perfect, although it required a lot of restraint from me, not to give it free rein. There's something tactile about the way the kit feels. I mean, it feels different to play than any Sonor I've ever owned: It has a certain pleasurable "give" when struck, and encourages one to want to dig more... but alas, I had to consider where I was. Even so, the kit was perfect. Wonderful how a new kit in a new room can offer such opportunity for sonic exploration, and be so rewarding. :D :D :D

The heads are great, although Modern Vintage like a lot of breaking in, particularly when using brushes. Initially, the coating is toothy and brushes can grab and make quite a racket. The kit is very controllable, but the bass, even muted by EQ4, still requires discretion. :D :D :D

Not sure I understand exactly what this kit is, but he says "prog jazz" so it should be the 20" kick, 125th Anniversary but with chrome hardware. With cases, stored, mint. Hmmm. Taking offers.
