So the Dr said I can incrementally start putting weight on my leg: 30% this week, 60% next, 90% the following... This is such a great moment, I feel that the convalescence is now on a downhill run!! I can now limp and shuffle along without crutches, using the crutches as a glorified cane is quicker and easier than ever. Going up and down stairs is way more safe and stable and staying vertical for a stretch of time is much easier and less painful than before when I was singularly grounded. My left leg is more than happy to share the work again, I'm not sure it's ever been this strong and I have really developed a skillful and powerful hop on it!
I have also been sitting at the kit and lightly kicking it to get my muscles back in order. I can tell that I will be playing before I am fully walking.
Getting the surgery was a major process for easing the pain and getting back on track to my former health, the handicapped parking placard a huge perk, but starting the walking is a big step in seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I'm grateful there is little to no pain and that my muscles haven't atrophied much.
Appreciate your legs and the ability to drum with them, my friends. I am so happy to be getting back what I took for granted before.
